Interesting question. Dreams are very common in the Bible, as a harbinger of the future, a kind of oracle, or description of some hidden reality.

Your question could be rephrased to be: “in the Christian worldview, what are dreams?”

Dreams that are more that just dreams still happen, or such would be my own experience.

The practical problem as I see it is that they are a bit like how speaking in tongues when there is no one to interpret: they may provide personal edification etc but their substance isn’t open to inspection by others like Scripture is and other folks generally don’t benefit from them as a result.
