I don't recall ever undertaking a rigorous or comprehensive study, but state constitutions of the era are interesting on the subject of citizenship too. I checked a few when exploring the meaning of NBC. The qualification(s) for citizenship wasn't defined in the US constitution before the 14th amendment ...
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
The subject is still worthy of debate, but is more settled than global warming. I see the appeal of universal suffrage being used as a tool to pacify the people, to give illusions of control and freedom.

Yes, it is frightening the last few years the way this issue has bubbled to the top and only recently disclosed how truly massive it is. It’s also interesting how many stories and quotes that are out there from 20-30 years ago where people tried to expose the conspiracy, made a bit of noise, then life went on. Example, if you dig deep enough, the issues with Bill Cosby were mentioned many years ago, in a joking manner, then finally when some comedian called him out in a standup routine, the ball finally started rolling. Now that I think about it, the same thing about Weinstein - his story was front and center for years and yet stayed hidden behind the veneer.

I have some doubts about this. I don't fully trust Pence like I do The Donald. And for the simple reason that he's a well established politician. I believe that ALL politicians who have been in the game for any significant length of time, and surely long enough to rise to the level of a Governership (with the exception of my Sarah) are beholden and compprimised by somebody.
I don't want Pence to be our GHW Bush.
