We are fortunate that the extreme hate our forebears lived in is gone. (At least openly.) I’m sure there are still those who hate privately.

It wasn’t all the cowboy and Indian hatred you saw on TV when we were kids. Letters and journals of New York Dutch show a respect and friendship with the local tribes. Henry Livingston hosted a banquet in the tiny town of LaPrairie for the local Castle when General Montgomery’s force was heading north in 1775 to invade Canada and looking for support among the tribes.
