The rocketeer launched himself about 1,875 feet into the air on Saturday, March 24, aboard his Liberty One rocket before he landed in the Mojave Desert.
Hughes sustained some bruises and had a minor back injury from the hard landing. His steam-powered rocket was also damaged but he came down in one piece. It was also finally mission accomplished after two failed attempts.
"I'm tired of people saying I chickened out and didn't build a rocket," he said. I manned up and did it."

He didn’t get any higher than a commercial jet flight.
And no word on what he thought of what he saw.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that Earth is not flat.

1,875 feet. Couldn’t he just fly a Cessna 172 to 10,000 feet?

Worked pretty good. Seems that he’d have been better off by just going to the edge of the earth so he could fly right off and take pics of the other side /s

Steam powered rocket? The guy basically built a water rocket big enough to ride. Wild.

Short hop flights are seldom worth the effort.
Parking, early check-in, the TSA, lost/delayed bags...

But it is dark on the back side, not enough light, even with Tri-X (pushed?)

Long ago, the wild and crazy Arfons Brothers built a steam-powered drag car.
I once met the driver, Bob Tahoe(?), he said it turned turtle at high speed, while he was driving.

I don’t think he was really a flat earther. He just used it to get publicity for his project and funds from the flat-earthers.
To: DUMBGRUNT
Wacky...but I gotta give him his proper dues for his selfmade success..early automobiles were steam powered but boiler container weakness spelled their doom...maybe his construction techniques could be used to build a safe..efficient steam car...

There is no edge to the earth. If there were, every cat would be there knocking stuff off.

1875 feet? That’s not even a half-mile!!! I could launch an Estes model rocket higher than that back in the early 70’s....
