When you think about it, 7 years is pretty much all you can expect with a band with the kind of talent (and egos) that the Beatles had.
They broke up at the right time.
Think about if the Stones’ broke up right after “Exile”.......they would probably be as revered as The Beatles, but they went on way too long and put out too many mediocre albums since then and it somewhat sullied their legacy.
I knew about Paul’s “control” issue - and, from what I’ve read, he was not much liked by the others because of his constant berating of their abilities. I also read that their were many occasions where Ringo’s drumming was so poor (in Paul’s opinion) that Paul would go back in studio and dub over the drum track; but I don’t know for certain if that aspect is true.
I agree, and IIRC George left the band for a month because of Paul about a year before the official breakup. Have you ever heard one of the Beatles complain about Yoko breaking up the band or causing tension?
