I’d shoot for the 50s where the family and neighbors are the central unit. I can’t really speak for the 50s since I wasn’t quite around but for 9 months of that decade, but I do remember a simpler, friendlier time in my youth.

Might be just because I was young though.

I do know watching Mad Men made me viscerally nostalgic, and I’m a ‘66 model. I think even as late as 1998 would be a decent restore point. I didn’t feel the perpetual agitation set in until the Bush-Gore SCOTUS war.
