Oxford University will feminise its philosophy curriculum in order to appeal to more female students and boost writers profiles.
The universitys Faculty of Philosophy requested that 40 per cent of the recommended authors on its reading lists are women.
Academic staff have also been asked to use writers first names when compiling reading lists instead of their initials, in order to highlight those that were written by women.

Feminise to appeal to women? Heck, all of the metrosexual men will be breaking down the door to sign up.

So a woman CANNOT have thinking that appreciates or is in agreement with some male philosopher; that ideas do not transcend sex?
The idea is not just foolish it is dangerous.

I suppose that you can consider a University just another business. It behooves them to try to appeal to potential new markets. But lets not pretend that they’re attempting to give the highest quality of education possible.

You and I might think so but I doubt any university would

Was the approximate 9:1 female-to-male ratio in my university English program 20 years ago not feminized enough, for some reason?

THE N.Y. TIMES CALLED THIS 1,000-PAGE NOVEL BY A WOMAN “ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL BUSINESS BOOKS EVER WRITTEN”
Answer:
What is “Atlas Shrugged”?
Why not? It’s long, it’s got obtuse orations, and was written by a WOMAN! LOL.

You nailed it. Her economic philosophy is spot on but her tendency to overwrite is maddening. Had Atlas Shrugged been half the length it would have been twice as good.
To: circlecity
I agree. But the length and obtuse orations make it suitable for COLLEGE! hahahaha

Every sex scene in that book is on the edge of rape simulation too. Rand was a different cat.

I am a huge admirer of G.E.M. Anscombe, who ALWAYS signed herself as "G.E.M. Anscombe" and never wrote using her given name (Elizabeth) or her married name (Mrs. Elizabeth Geech)--- and she was not just the greatest "woman" philosopher, I would say she was the greatest philosopher of the 20th century, period.
So maybe students will get a bigger dosage of Anscombe under this new policy --- but I doubt it. For one thing, she was an uncompromisingly rigorous analytical philosopher. Second, she was a giant of conservative thought. Third (and I suppose it follows) she was no feminist.
