One has to question the intent of the lock downs and walkouts. It has always appeared as though the black-hats/demonrats want to get a gun confiscation started sooner rather than later. Scaring the kids is a long term solution. However, if they can get the parents brainwashed, through their overreactions, it would possibly have more immediate ramifications.
