Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are adopting inclusion riders for projects made through their Pearl Street Films, according to head of strategic outreach at the production company, Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni.
"On behalf of Pearl Street Films, Matt Damon, @BenAffleck, Jennifer Todd, Drew Vinton & I will be adopting the #InclusionRider for all of our projects moving forward," Cox DiGiovanni tweeted Monday, responding to Michael B. Jordan's tweet from last week in which he announced that his production company, Outlier Society, would also begin adopting inclusion riders.
An inclusion rider is a reference to the belief by some that there should be requirements in contracts that provide for gender and racial diversity.
While Stacy Smith, director of USC Annenbergs Media, Diversity & Social Change Initiative, first introduced the idea of the inclusion rider in a 2014 guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, Frances McDormand brought the idea into the spotlight recently during her best actress Oscar acceptance speech at the 90th annual Academy Awards. According to Smith, the rider focuses on improving diversity in select below-the-line jobs (cinematographer, production designer, sound, 1st and 2nd AD, editor, visual effects and composer) and supporting roles that do not affect story sovereignty or interfere with financing or insurance.
A request for comment from Affleck and Damon was not immediately returned.
yikes! my creepiness meter just broke! LOL
Just like public TV.
LOL. What is the rider? That Ben will sexually harass the woman and Matt will keep quiet about it?
And always a nuclear family!
This means that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will never be hired to appear in a movie. Not even their own productions : )
Some of the dumber guys might have been in favor of it - at first (thinking "hawt chicks!"). But the smarter fellers would have instantly understood who would then have had to undertake the "heavy lifting."
Regards,
If one isn’t a clique, no gigs for you.
That was my experience.
Yeah 3 percent of movies with black casts is horrible. Good grief.
Jackie Chan as Ike. LOL, that’s my image for the day. I like Jackie Chan and it would be great to see him do Kung Fu on NAZI spys while dressed as Ike.

LOL What a joke.
Phenomenal play. I hope you got to see it. Worth every penny. Heck the could double the price and still be well worth seeing.
Expect bankruptcy in 2 years
I think they should be able to work with/hire whomever they want.
Compare this to the “Bake the Cake” Nazis.
How about a remake of NONOOK OF THE NORTH with a black Eskimo, or a Viking movie with a Chinese Viking, or Vikings discovering America with a Hindi Viking.
A black Custer attacking real India Indians.
All our men came home from WWII and the government paid for them to go to college. I think some worldliness and trauma from war was passed on to the “baby boomers”. Then, we took God from schools and left our young without a culture or direction. To seal the deal, we put their mothers to work and gave them “careers”. Then, we made no-fault divorce to pull the rug out from under the culture. The bow on top - let’s bring in non-Christian foreigners for diversity . . . and do away with borders!
I forgot the drugs and sex.
Is Affleck trying to make up for his slave owning ancestors? You know, the ones he begged Louis “Skippy” Gates not to include in his family history show “Finding Your Roots.”
They KNEW!
The term “below-the-line,” is demeaning. How dare they use it?
