I read somewhere that Whorealdo Rivera had a trepanation performed wherein they threw away the skill and kept the hole. I’d have reported it sooner, but the skill makes an excellent planter.

From binding over a lifetime and trepanning as an effort to relieve pressure, perhaps.

there is speculation that the inhabitants in that region placed restrictive bands on the heads of infants (while the skull was still soft); much like the African tribes that place rings around the necks of women in order to elongate them.

True elongated heads have a huge percentage larger brain mass.

The manipulated human heads into an elongated shape do not have an increase in volume just a change in shape.

One of the articles I read mentioned that heads were deliberately elongated over time for some sort of fad, much like the stretched necks of the Kayan women in Myanmar. Very strange what people do to their very bone structure.

It’s always interesting to see what people find (or make up) about ancient skeletons and mummies.
