Yaelle, do you find this new American Idol to be a bit off somehow. Am I just too used to the old American Idol?
I will give the show and the voters one thing. Scotty McCreery is turning out pretty well. I cry every time I hear his song 5 more minutes. And do you think I cry to the verse about the dying grandpa? No, Im so weird I cry over the football verse. And I feel stupid in the car wiping away a tear when (believe it or not) I was not a youth football champ.

Well, I think Jonny would agree, the more recent incarnations of Idol were also off somehow so nothing surprises me now. Dont you gentlemen remember (and I know you do) the wars of the Divas with Mariah Careys boobs fighting for superior position over Nicki Minajs butt cheeks? The growing PC, the silly tricks to keep the show popular (so far pretty unsuccessful)?

They have had some successes and some minor ones, but somehow the show just seems lackluster. Is it because the show no longer seems to want to apply to all members of the family and now seems geared towards the young teen to 30 year olds?
The past few years and this one, they have very few artists that we recognize. Sure they have Lionel Ritchie and Sugarland. It seems they are not really trying to appeal to the wider audience.
Anything but who they're going to cut from the show. That's already been decided in some boardroom.
Maybe it's the timing.
Idol has never started this late in the year (except for the very first season). We're usually in the Top 5 or 6 by now. For some reason this show is easier to take in the dead of winter, lol.
Speaking of winter ...
If the bulge in Ada's dress sees it's shadow, does that mean we get six more weeks of him/her?
