To me, the question is how prevalent and covered up is it? There have always been atrocities and wrongs, but we are conditioned to see them as isolated and limited to mental defectives. Dahmer, just to pick one that sticks out. Manson.
But when systematic coverup of sex and worse abuse is uncovered in the UK ... and "Hollywood culture" is just barely covered up ... it's not much of a reach to figure there is a systematic coverup of depravity perpetrated by people who have been presented to the world as normal. Given the sheer numbers of powerful people, some of them must be depraved. See Matt Lauer for tip of the iceberg, maybe. Epstein's pedo island is real.
I believe Satan is real, powerful, at work, and effective against the hubris and other base qualities of human nature.

Our elected officials and Hollywood have been able to mainstream satan so most people do not see satan’s destructive force.
DaHmer and Manson are outliers in my opinion, the ones that are truly dangerous are the celebrities and politicians- they have the money and power to cover this sick activity, put in the shadows so to speak.
The world is at a crossroads - do we continue down this path or do we bring these activities into broad daylight.
People who want to live in a civilized society will not, should not tolerate this behaviour.
Time will tell as to which path the world chooses, I pray that we as civilized humans choose the righteous and just path.

I’m slowly realizing that there is a small, limited number of _powerful_ people (Le Cercle; Nine Men; https://wikispooks.com/wiki/Le_Cercle ironically labeled right-wing & conservative)) and a mass of what the entertainment/media/advertising industry cabal puts forward to us as the face of power.
I believe the term used in the media conglomerate is FACE and it means what it says: a shill. A constructed image. These celebrities might as well be digital constructs (and for all we know....). The real power hides behind them and the PR industry dutifully delivers breathless reports of what these faces do as they go through the motions of living bountiful and joyous lives that we are supposed to admire and emulate.
It is easier and easier to accept that the faces have been corrupted and the men at the top are depraved and perhaps the real-life model for Reddington’s associates in ‘Blacklist’. Artfully presented as businessmen, their real business is arms dealing, smuggling of whatever commodity brings the highest return and meddling in the affairs of the nations & people of the planet.
