CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES INVOLVED IN DISPUTE OVER SPENDING OF ETHIOPIA AID

Lawrence A. Pezzullo, the executive director of Catholic Relief Services, based in New York, said ''we agree there's a disagreement'' with the Government agency but defended his organization's record in distributing food to more than a million starving Ethiopians. He termed the allegations of misused money ''scurrilous'' and blamed ''disgruntled'' former employees for raising them. ''Our record is excellent,'' said Mr. Pezzullo.

Those who have raised the complaints include three former employees, Mr. MacGuire, who is a former Peace Corps worker and Catholic Relief Services representative in Burundi, and who is now director of corporate development for Macmillan Inc.; Peter P. Strzok, a former Army Corps of Engineers officer who served with the Catholic agency in Africa and Haiti, and Jean Serge Picard, who served in Zaire and Burundi.

Also interviewed was Norbert Clement, who worked for the relief agency for 25 years in Rwanda, Ethiopia and Haiti. He is still an employee of the agency but is on leave.

Another former employee, Mr. Strzok, recently wrote the agency that while he served in Upper Volta, now Burkina Faso, he was told to use money from aid recipients to meet overhead.

In another 1981 letter from Mr. Hackett to Mr. Strzok, in Upper Volta, Mr. Hackett referred to a forthcoming visit by Government ''evaluators'' and said, ''My confidential advice to you is to keep them in a revolving door so to speak.''

I find that interesting. Over the years here Ive commented multiple times that Catholicism, as practiced in NE Wisconsin is anti-American, socialist, force for promoting evil. Im sure Ive pissed off more than one Catholic for making the statement but that was not my intent. The local RC church has changed significantly since the 80s. Yess, I know that Catholics as a whole have complained about the liberalization of the church but this is something more. Anything anti-rights, globalist, or socialist is promoted as Gods will that must be obeyed due to God supposedly having placed government over them yet, anything pro-rights, pro-American, or pro-personal responsibility "must" be fought as being against Jesus directive to be loving to one another as good Christians.

There definitely was, maybe still is, a fire behind all the smoke in the Diocese of Green Bay (Aurora is in Florence which is GB diocese).
