My first wife was arrested for domestic violence when she threw a calculator into my face and gashed my upper lip. I’d had enough of her crazy abuse, and called 911. I just wanted her out. California law requires the cops to make an arrest if they see signs of a battery, and my bloody swollen face was plenty of evidence. I had no choice in the matter once the cops showed up.

You could be lucky.. Sometimes they just arrest the man no matter what. I remember a case in California where the wife stabbed the husband, who was confined to a wheelchair. The kids called 911, and the police came and arrested the stabbed man in the wheelchair.
