In my case, I'd have to say either whale at a restaurant in Iceland, or fried crickets when I was in Zambia.
The whale was delicious. The bugs....not so much.
“SO what would you gotten had you won the bet?”
San Nakji is delicious, it’s usually served as the appetizer for a meal of cooked squid with chili sauce.
The most disgusting food that I couldn’t bear to eat would have to be “Stinky Tofu” in Taiwan. As you pass the vendor’s stall at the night market you’d swear you were walking by a barnyard.
I forget her name but I think she was from Luzon City
But seriously
No one can top this:
Everything but the muscle segments of a chicken at Ba Luan in Tam Ky Vietnam, APR 2000.
I love jellyfish if it’s done right. I just had some a few days ago.
I’ve eaten all kinds of odd foods. I’ve spend some time in China and found I like duck tongue and cheek, sliced beef tendon in hot sauce, chicken feet and all kinds of other odd foods. I’ve even eaten the heads of fish, chicken, duck and pigeon. Even durian is okay once you get past the smell. The only thing that stopped me dead in my tracks was a fish air air bladder. It looked sort of like an inflated condom. Other than that, there isn’t much I would not give a try.
Ostrich in Stowe Vermont. Looks and tastes like beef. Just make sure its not well done. Better medium-rare.
Sea Turtle in San Blas, Mexico in 1977.
Camel. I told the waiter that there was something wrong with the steak and he told me that I probably thought it was beef, but it was Camel. He said that is what they do with Camels when they get too old to work.
Kangaroo steak, was like chewing a dogs rubber play toy.
Years ago we were at a restaurant in Hong Kong that served snake. The waiter brought a live snake to the table next to us and then killed it and skinned it right there.
I was speechless.
Food doesn’t get any fresher than that.
Groaci Roasted Gribble Grubs
8 day old green bologna.
Ya know the really good stuff goes for ~$5K/lb, wholesale?
Not sure what some beer and wine manufacturers pay for the common isinglass.
We eat allot of cabrito here in West TX.
Live flying fish and squid .
Japan.
Not so bad after the first bite. Needs more sauce.
Sea cucumber. Also a texture thing
