for over 30 years that I’m aware of, the progs have placed change agents into every group, institution and geographic location possible. Some of it IS organic in that these people are committed to the ideology and wherever they go they overtly push it, reinforce it. They form little clubs, like book clubs or gardening clubs and then join those to NGO or prog government programs. They stand up in meetings to remind people to vote and then only list the prog candidates. They invite speakers from places like DC, CA, et al and make the entire thing into a recruiting and fundraising event.
My rural Mayberry has shifted from conservative to prog over this time period. The children and grandchildren of the original plants are very, very radical and they either stay here, bring in their friends or use it as an R&R location between gigs. Land is inherited along with trust funds to pay taxes and live on.
