For instance, a poster and I were discussing how long canning lids last. In my heyday of prepping, I bought 2 cases of Ball lids. I also bought a lot of tattler lids and have been enjoying learning how to use those. BUT I dont know if I should be using up the Ball lids or if they will last.
And the rings on the tattlers, not sure about those either.
Nor how to best store any of them. I LOVE mylar and oxygen absorbers! But I dont know if thats the best way, or perhaps a foodsaver, or if they should be in my moist cool basement or in the drier, warmer house .
This subject doesn't really fit on any of the other weekly or subject-oriented threads that I know about. Sorry if I am stepping on any toes here.
Anyway, thats the sort of thing I could ask on grannys threads and get 5-50 responses! We could bounce around ideas and share any experiences we had.
So here we go!
(I hope someone else will join me here, LOL!)
BTW, Im now an East Tennessee Appalachian granny, so I figured I could start this thread in memory of nw_arizona_granny.
BTTT

(Hope this is seen - I have had various results with the ‘all’ posting ;-)
I have a question about mint. I want to grow it this year; will start it in my Aero thingie, and then put it on the balcony.
The plan is to dry some, and chop and freeze some in ice-cube trays for use in Tabbouli - we eat a lot of quinoa tabbouli year-round.
But I don’t know what variety of seeds to buy. We’ve so far bought mint for this purpose both in the ‘clamshells’, and as plants, at the supermarket. Some of the mint we’ve gotten has had a very different flavor from other bunches. Some of it has been too ‘candy-like’, not the clear, sharp mint flavor.
Does anyone know the type/variety that is generally used in Indian/Middle Eastern cooking?
THIS TIP FOR ALL THE LADIES who read this thread.
Ladies, when sending your significant other to the market to pick up a sack of flour which you might have forgotten in order to make that special birthday cake...or other tantalizing treat, make certain you do this!
Please relay to him the type of flour you will be needing. There have been numerous times while in the baking section of a super market when a male approaches and asks
“Sorry, but can you help me? I’ve been sent on an errand to buy flour but unable to decide on what kind she needs.”
He is asked what she might be making: cake, bread, etc. Sometimes he will know, but 1/2 the time no clue and he receives the answer ‘if not baking bread, cake, an all purpose flour should do.’
They need information in detail to arrive home after the hunt, successfully!
They try to please :-)

Hello.
Will you please add me to your ping list?
Thank you very much.
Ping Please. Thank you.
For those who detest recipes and the quantity of sites found on the net, please disregard this post.
Others might remember grandmothers/great great aunts speaking of a cool summer drink called “SHRUBS” Rumor has it this has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Bush family, but was a beverage made with vinegar. It was claimed to be delicious and refreshing.
For some reason, this memory (like the proverbial light bulb) was switched on this morning and, a true explorer, took a hike to find how to make one.
This was found.

When TSHTF our sodas, soft drinks will be ka-poot. Though there might be water, eventually there will be no KOOL-AID envelopes to open and use.
Are there any here adventurous enough to try it? If so, please share your experience and give us the results of your taste test.
Thank you.
Would you please add me to your ping list? Grannies are the best!
Thanks.
LAWN MOWERS AND MOTORS
Time to bring out your mowers, weed eaters and such. They’ll do little good sitting in storage. Don’t run at the moment? Good excuse but still not valid.
