You’re getting this ping from the NEW All Things Prepping, Simple Living, Back to the Basics [Survival Today, an on going thread] Thread!!!

You’re getting this because you were on granny’s old ping list, from way back when.

IF you are already on the new list, please disregard this. I was going to compare the lists and get rid of the redundant entries, then decided that was WAAYYY too much trouble, LOL!
__________________________________________________

So, if you want on the NEW ping list, please let me know!

Just like granny’s thread, it’s an ONGOING thread where you can chat, ask questions, or answer questions any time.

Thanks for the ping. Just like old times!!! I see I have 500 plus posts to catch up with (sigh).
Spring is slow in coming here, but eagerly awaiting the strawberries. Have ordered 50 more plants-hope to be able to get them in the ground. Hubby will be 90 in 3 months but is still working outdoors every day and has done some rototilling. Garden will be much smaller this year but looking forward to having my own fresh veggies. Thanks for including me on your ping list.

LOL, you’re right. Funny how when first seen (Fraiser just settling into his new gig at the station) First few episodes seen, didn’t grab me much. But now, seeing the season again on our local COZI station - each episode we watch is memorable. Fortunately, there is DAILY MOTION.com which has a video library we might watch on Roku or our computers. Now, rather than watch the evening buffet of fake news, beginning at 7 central time we travel to COZI for several hours. At times we then speed over to Daily Motion or WATCH-SERIES.ru.com if tee vee is a no man’s land for the evening.

The Niles / Daphne thread in the series was truly hilarious. The guy playing Niles, David Hyde Pierce, is one of my favorite character actors from TV days. As I recall, he played the aqua character in the Hell Boy movies. He was also a standout for blending so well in Wolf and Nixon. ... I watch very very little TV now.

The first half of March is typically cold and snowy but in spite of that, once March hits, we are more than ready for the warm weather.

And there have been years when our last frost was at the end of March.

Not this year....

Do admire your fortitude. How any live in that part of the country is questioned. Can’t take the cold weather and dreary, dark days for months on end. Granted Texas does have its cold days on occasion, but at least we have sunlight. Have been known to pull out the FANTASIA video on occasion just to see a bit of color. I’ll take days of 100+ degrees over a freezing climate any day of the week. Family members living in North Dakota/Minnesota - they have the same fortitude as you. Visited in childhood, the winter there is no place for wimps.

It is wonderful to see you again! I am so glad you are still on here.

Oh my gosh, you and your husband are still as productive as ever. You are amazing! Are your kids still giving you a hard time about it?

You are in Maine, right?

Born and raised here and jobs and school kept us here.

The kids all moved out after graduation from college.

The retirement plans, only a few years off now, include moving from this depressing, Venezuela wannabe state.

I hate the cold and would do the snow bird thing if it could work out. DOn’t see it clear right now.

PS. Don’t feel too frantic to catch up. This thread is going a lot a lot slower than grannies did. Just a few posts a day for now. I hope that will change though! And it will be like old times.

A quick summary, we have moved! We escaped Mexiforna and are in East Tennessee. Have 18 acres and a Huge garden. Hubby bought a Rototiller for the back of the tractor and the garden kept getting bigger and bigger…So like you I hope this year will be smaller. I’m going to space the plants out more because I wore myself out last year.

My favorite episode is when he didn’t even say a word, and I don’t even remember the details now. He had cut his finger or something? Do you remember what it is I think I’m remembering? :-) Anyway he was hilarious.

NH.

It’s not a lot warmer, but enough and my son says that when it’s not raining or snowing, it’s sunny.

Not here. It’s just overcast and gray for the heck of it here.

Also, a month or two in FL every winter. I’d prefer Jan into the beginning of Feb, until the spring break-ers show up.

Believe that was seen this week (Daily Motion?) Niles sitting on the couch listening to opera waiting for (wine club meeting??) He is alone, grooming himself, picking at his pants leg. Find his crease is not as sharp as he wishes. Takes off pants, jacket still on, and proceeds to press his pants. Burns his finger on the iron, faints at the sight of his own blood. Eddie licks him awake, he finds blood on Frasier’s couch and uses a flammable cleaner to clean. Meanwhile hot iron still on trousers, and a fire breaks out. Fire spreads, extinguisher fails; Niles dumps a pot of soup?? onto the couch to put out the fire. Opens front door, Eddie runs out, The End. Don;t remember the name for the episode, but you should be able to find it. Yesterday posted a site that had transcripts of the episodes.
Here’s another addy as well

Sorry, in the process of frying chicken and must scoot now.

Oh yes, the kids are SOOO protective- each one trying to outdo the other being helpful. At times, I wish they would just go home but realize if not for them, we couldn’t live so independently. One daughter does my weekly shopping (those box stores have such LONG aisles), another daughter goes to the library (I am an avid reader a couple books a week). Our library has Minerva where I can order books from any library in the state on my computer and the books are delivered to my library where daughter picks them up. Isn’t modern technology wonderful!!

Still love to camp. Have a couple reservations at state parks this summer. Going to give it a try. If it proves too difficult we will just go to a motel, but we love that hot cup of coffee lakeside in the morning at some remote area where the loons are singing.

Again, thanks for the ping and I will be following this thread.

Do you think people would want to know tooth powder recipes, or home made facial powder/scrub that leaves skin smooth like a baby’s?

Both cheap?
