Hollywood routinely covers itself in fake blood and fake gunfire, just as it covers itself with sex and perversion, all that has a detrimental effect on the culture of the country. Add to that a drug industry, and its pushers with diplomas hanging on the wall, it’s a recipe for disaster.

You won’t find any politicians willing to take on Hollywood, the medical profession and big pharma, because they all pump millions into both parties.

A movie critic (was it Michael Medved?) once described debating movie violence with the director of the Naked Gun movies. The director hotly denied that movie violence could possibly increase violent behavior in watchers.

But at another point in the debate, he bragged about a scene where the good guys jump in a car in hot pursuit of some bad guys, but before they drive off, they pause long enough to fasten their seatbelts. He claimed that this scene certainly saved some number of lives among moviegoers who saw it and were influenced to buckle up.

The irony and hypocrisy of what he said was totally lost on him. On the one hand, he took credit for saving lives by depicting some good behavior, but on the other hand he categorically rejected that any bad behavior in his movies might ever affect people negatively. Unreal!

Hypocrites on both sides, fools who are against showing guns on the right and liberals who do show guns and are for gun control.

How can you be pro gun if you are against them being used in video games

I think you may be missing my/our point. Everyone’s looking for causes of the terrible effect. Many point to only the inert gun.

I think we need to consider all influences, including parenting, bullying, mental health, drugs and repetitive witnessing of violence (actual, media, gaming; I’m pretty certain that studies have shown that such gaming affects brain function, hormonal activity).

I didn’t say the violent games are wrong, just noted their possible influence. I will say that parentally unregulated frequent violent gaming by under 18 years olds is, to me, less than healthy or wise.

#15 I could not get past the first half hour of Kingsman as it was way to violent just to be violent. I told a co-worker of this and he thought it was not that violent. He reads Stephen King novels.
Gotta keep both eyes on him!
