Reporter: If More Babies Were Aborted, the Florida School Shooting Wouldn’t Happen
LIFE NEWS ^ | Feb 16, 2018 | Micaiah Bilger

Posted on 02/16/2018 11:37:32 AM PST by Morgana

As America reels from another mass shooting in Florida, one abortion activist used the tragedy to claim that fewer mass shootings would happen if more babies were aborted.

Journalist Becky Griffin’s tweets about abortion and the mass shooting went viral Thursday.

“Woman puts baby up for adoption, he grows up to be a violent young man who will spend the rest of his life in prison for a mass murder. Tell me more about how abortions are wrong,” she wrote Thursday.

The tweet is a reference to alleged mass murderer Nikolas Cruz’s background as an adopted child. According to the AP, he was living with friends after both of his adoptive parents died. Neighbors said his mother, Lynda Cruz, died Nov. 1, and Cruz had mental health problems.

Cruz allegedly killed 17 people and injured 13 others Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the report states.

Griffin quickly received backlash for her tweets about adoption and abortion. Responding to her critics, Griffin directed “trolls” to an old article claiming that abortions reduce crime. Experts have refuted this claim, made popular in the book “Freakonomics,” numerous times.

While Griffin later clarified that she does not oppose adoption and did not mean to insult any adoptees, she continued to assert that some children should be aborted.

People on both sides of the abortion debate quickly criticized Griffin for using the slaughter of 17 innocent lives to push abortion.

Among them was popular conservative commentator Ben Shapiro.

Abortion activist and writer Robyn Marty also criticized the tweet.

The solution to ending such horrific, massive violence as the Parkland shooting is troublingly uncertain. Politicians and average Americans will continue debating solutions for years.

But one thing is clear. Violence against children in the womb cannot be the answer to violence against children outside the womb. We have no way of knowing if a child in the womb will be a revolutionary like Steve Jobs or a violent criminal. What we do know is every human life has value, and every child, born and unborn, deserves to live and grow free from violence.

On a day when 17 innocents were tragically killed in Florida, nearly 3,000 innocents were tragically killed in America’s abortion clinics.

This reporter, Becky Griffen, or is that Maggie Sanger? is probably on some drug that has already been banned.

Freaking Nazi eugenicist.

Surprise bonus: There would be fewer school children available as targets.

Everything is a trade off.

In the 1950 it was known that giving premature babies pure oxygen increased the chances they would develop retinitis pigmentosa, which leads to loss of night vision and peripheral vision. A controlled study was conducted with a control group and a test group, the treatment in this case being depriving them or pure oxygen.

The results showed that the test group did indeed have lower rates of retinitis pigmentosa. But they also had lower survival rates. For every case of retinitis pigmentosa prevented, they induced about seven fatalities.

Certainly, more abortions will prevent some children from growing up to be mass murderers. But how does she propose to select the potential murderers. Many mass murderers are immigrants. Why not used this as an argument against mass immigration?

What is the trade off? A thousand abortions to save one life? Since 1982 there have been 98 mass shootings in the US with a total of 819 fatalities. In the same period there have been approximately 36,000,000 abortions. The abortionists are outscoring the shooters by about 44,000 to one.

Nice going!

In that same period there were approximately 121,000,000 live births. If we could only have aborted another 121,000,000 (and completely cut off immigration) we might be able to save about 23 lives a year. In other words a month of Chicago.

There are 11,000 firearms homicides a year in the us, 23 in mass shoots (which include a number of family annihilators who would have been successful without a firearm), or about one in 500 firearms fatalities are the result of “mass shootings”.

As someone whose only child is adopted, I'll confess that one of the things I thought when I heard this story on the news — after, of course, the same reactions of horror as everybody else — was, “Please don't let the shooter have been adopted.” It is a statistical reality that adopted children and teens are overrepresented among young people who have behavioral problems and mental illness. Now, that does not mean that most, say, teens who were adopted have behavioral problems, or that even those teems who were adopted and have behavioral problems have even slightly violent tendencies. However, I think candor about the issues that can come with being adopted will give the arguments against Becky Griffin's more weight.

To argue that women should have abortions based on how we predict their children may turn out is inane. It would be easy to demonstrate that life is stacked in your favor if: you have a mother and father who are married to each other; if both of your parents have at least finished high school and at least one has a stable job; if you have a supportive extended family; if you have no genetic issues or health problems that are detected via prenatal testing. Want to go farther, by assuming things many American on the left would argue? Life is easier if you are white and male. Ok, every woman pregnant with a child who not life the above...abort! Even if you have no moral problems with abortion, you can see how that just wouldn't work.

As for the issue of this particular shooter. Putting aside the eternal problem of evil, which always has been with us and always will be...Why he turned out the way he did may take a long time to piece together. Perhaps the fact that his parents were about fifty years old when they adopted him as an infant made it tough to deal with him as he grew up and was a child with behavioral problems. His father died when he was a child, so his mother was a woman of about sixty when he was a rambunctious ten year old. An aunt — a sister of his deceased adoptive father, it sounds like — was quoted on the news as not having seen him or his brother since shortly after her brother and sister-in-law adopted them, so who knows if they had a family network that helped their mother raise them. He was in regular public schools, as opposed as having been placed by the Board of Ed in a school for children with behavioral problems. Of course, his mother dying a few months ago must have derailed him emotionally. However, 99.9% (repeating) of children and teens who suffer the catastrophe of losing their mothers do not become violent in any way, never mind premedtitatively murder 17 people and attempt to murder scores more. No, his mother's death was at most a triggering event.

It's understandable people will ask how the shooter, legally or illegally, got his hands on a gun, especially the type he had. We should also ask why his guardians allowed him to keep the gun. Their spokesman said of their taking him in after his mother died, “No good deed goes unpunished.” Well, yes, taking in an orphaned teen is a mitzvah, yet this member of the NRA isn't inclined to excuse their permitting a grieving and troubled teenager to store an AK-47 in their house. Had I been those guardians, I would have had a professional of some sort grab that gun the first night the teen fell sleep in my house. Perhaps the following isn't the law, but it's a moral precept as far as I'm concerned: if you allow someone under your roof to store a gun there, you are at least partially responsible for what he or she does with it, inside or outside the house.

Anyway, let's not scapegoat adopted children, or urge women in crisis to have abortions, because doing so is morally repugnant and won't prevent future school shootings. When the Right-to-Life Committee and NARAL agree on something, especially in the aftermath of a national catastrophe, that's a consensus.

American Jews overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Women overwhelmingly vote Democrat.

Also, Blacks and Hispanics overwhelmingly vote Democrat.

The greatest supporters of abortion in my personal experience are women by an OVERWHELMING margin.

God’s special chosen people and other “persecuted” people groups and the gentler sex...

We live in a broken world.

Let’s see, more than sixty million murdered brutally while in their mother’s womb verses 17 people murdered in a school? Every life matters. Abortion spawns the mentality that life is cheap and easily done away with. It gives birth to a culture of murderers who cannot understand that human life is sacred.

Adoption is the only sane alternative to abortion. It takes a whole lot of courage to carry a child to term knowing you’re going to place for adoption, a whole lot more than getting an abortion. Just as it takes courage for the adopting parents to accept that occasional contact with the birth mother and/or relatives (of the sane sort of course) can be very beneficial to all involved (maybe even improving the support system for the child reaching adulthood). And while some adopted babies may have had drug addict mothers, or may have their own physical or emotional handicaps, many more do not, and the children grow up perfectly normal, and usually, exceptional. Nature and nurture.

some adoption facts pro-lifers can use:
1. It is estimated that about 1 million children in the United States live with adoptive parents. (Stolley, 1993)
2. Birthmothers who have on-going contact with their children’s adoptive families report having less grief, regret, guilt and sadness than do those who do not have contact. (Henney, Ayers-Lopex, McRoy & Crotevant, 2007)
3. Adoptive parents who had contact with their children’s birth relatives were more satisfied with their contact arrangements than were those who had no contact. (Henney, Ayers-Lopex, McRoy & Crotevant, 2007)
4. Teens who were adopted at birth are more likely to live with two parents in a middle-class family than children born into intact families.
5. Adopted children score higher than their middle-class counterparts on indicators of school performance, social competency, optimism and volunteerism.
6. Adopted adolescents generally are less depressed than children of single parents and less involved in alcohol abuse, vandalism, group fighting, police trouble, weapon use and theft.
7. Adopted adolescents score higher than children of single parents on self-esteem, confidence in their own judgment, self-directedness, positive view of others and feelings of security within their families.
8. On health measures, adopted children and children of intact families share similarly high scores, and both those groups score significantly higher than children raised by single parents.
9. Seven percent of children adopted in infancy repeated a grade, while 12 percent of children living with both biological parents repeated a grade.
10. Compared with the general child population, children placed with adoptive couples are better off economically.

Data indicates that adopted children:
1. Have a strong feeling of security with their family.
2. Enjoy a quality of home environment superior to all the other groups.
3. Have superior access to health care and education opportunties compared to all other groups.
4. Do better in educational attainment and attend college in greater percentages than the general population.
5. They experience lower rates of crime and drug abuse.
6. Have a healthy sense of self-esteem, optimism and social competency.

Interesting logical correlation. Kill more babies, fewer killers around.

Abortion also reduces the number of liberals in the population, so, explore the possibilities.

“Blacks are the most church going / least likely to be Atheist race. Look at Chicago, Detroit, etc.”

Assuming that’s true, you tell me why they act the way they do, even when they supposedly believe in the Christian god and teachings.

I have my own opinion.

LOL “when all said was ” sounds like the women point of view.

“Lol. This drew so much attention by ppl jumping to conclusions like I think adoption is wrong, when all said was that a woman who was clearly unfit to have a child — did — did NOT raise him — and maybe it could have turned out better if she could have made a CHOICE.”
