DELTA ENCODING

Delta encoding is a way of storing or transmitting data in the form of differences between sequential data rather than complete files; more generally this is known as data differencing. Delta encoding is sometimes called delta compression, particularly where archival histories of changes are required.

In engineering it means difference. The symbol:

Just saw this, sure by your name you know it, but just wanted to add this to the conversation. Delta’s are how we track revisions to a set of drawings. Once it has been issued and had eyes on it, we cloud and delta (with a number in the delta) so others can quickly see the revisions and track the history.
