Weren’t the frozen assets the $$ the Shah had paid for arms, in particular 4 C-130H Lockheed Martin Hercules and the maintenance/replacement parts package? They are still stored new in the box at LM in Marietta Ga.
I believe the 1.7 billion was the original price of seized assets returned with interest over 35-37 years compounding annually and adjusted for inflation. These $$ should have never been returned to a government that is our enemy and illegally overthrew a legitimate government that was our ally.
