In Iraq, we had NCO carpenters from Civil Engineering come over, who were instructed to build wooden crates.

They would ask for dimensions of what they wanted built, and were shown piles of gold bars (bullion).

A friend of mine even took his picture next to all the gold. Millions and millions of dollars worth.
