I can’t say any more than I’ve already said. I was raised in the church and have been active/around Christians all my life. I’ve never heard a Christian call anyone but Jesus their savior. I personally have never called anyone but Jesus my savior. Honestly, that’s the extent of it from my POV.

If others find this usage normal and natural, then that’s how it is for them. It sounds way off to me.

To say that I’m astonished would be an understatement-——uncapitalized it’s just a WORD====and used often

Examples:

Recent Examples of savior from the Web

“Having played with everyone from the jazz legends Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock to the rapper Snoop Dogg, Washington has been dubbed something of a jazz savior, honoring traditional aspects of the genre while developing his own sound.”

marcus j. moore, The Atlantic, “The Nuanced Bluster of Kamasi Washington,” 5 Oct. 2017

“Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has gone from lame duck premier dogged by a party corruption scandal to the country’s unlikely savior.”

charles penty, Bloomberg.com, “Divided and Conquered”
