I’ve never been to any of mine.

some friends have gone, and say they didn’t enjoy it. They said the “cool” kids, or “cliques” all hung out together at the reunion, and pretty much ignored everybody else. Just as they did in high school.

Other friends said how so many people were braggarts; how they went to law school, were partners in law firms, had high positions in the government or major corporations, that sort of thing.

So, anecdotal evidence — friends who have gone just didn’t enjoy it, and I never felt any great desire to go. I’ve kept in touch with some high school friends, and don’t really care whatever happened to most of the people in my class.

Looks like I’m the only one here so far that enjoys reunions. I make it a point to go, even being 2,000 miles away. I find it extremely interesting to reconnect with people I knew 40 years ago with little or no contact since.

Regarding people acting like a “braggart”, there’s always a handful of those. However, in our class, we had Charlie Ergen (founder/Chairman/CEO of Dish Network and Echostar). He’s apparently worth about $15 billion. When he shows up at the reunions (and he always does), he could come in a private jet, limo and entourage. But, refreshingly, he just shows up as Charlie, the same 18 year old high school kid everyone knew and liked, and makes it a point to talk to everyone.

Are you sure we weren’t in the same graduating class? I just went to one of my reunions and you are so right. The popular kids all hung out together at the reunion just like they did in their high school days. Altho’ some never amounted to a hill of beans in later life, they all wanted to relive those past glories, kinda’ sad. And the ones who made it big, actually took over the microphone one by one to let everyone know what great big successes they became. Wasn’t a total loss, the food was good.
