I've also heard that some had encouraged Trump to run, but I believe he ran because it is in his heart and his nature to do so. He's the man, more than all others, the most uniquely and ideally prepared for the job.
As a fwiw, he not only went to a military academy for high school, he was the cadet commander. That's no small thing and I believe his patriotism is as real and as deep as humanly possible from a very early age.
I've never been more impressed by anyone and I could not be happier that he is our President!
As things are now, this seems to describe our recent turn of fortune:
No human, natural or preternatural agency can destroy the Church or Christian civilisation; Our miracle's name is: Donald J. Trump.
when evil becomes unbearable to the individual who trusts God, or to society, God will work a miracle if necessary to overcome it.
--Fr Gerald Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times (1941)
And THAT is why I don't believe the gobble-de-gook about a cadre of military pushing him into it and the "schooling" him.
President Reagan was the first to tell him that he should get involved and yet, he never considered running for anything at all, back then. But that just might have been the acorn that finally grew into the mighty king's oak.
