Once again I saw the title and said “Mairdie ?” Sure enough.

Just went up to look at the autochromes. I’ve seen some examples of the process before but the selection assembled here certainly is quite remarkable, both from a technical perspective as well as featuring many outstanding examples of fine art.

I would be remiss if I didn’t send a shout out to Sergey Mikhaylovich Prokudin-Gorsky. He was a contemporary of the Lumiere brothers. His work was brought to the attention of the Czar and he was given the use of a private railroad car for use as his photo lab and documents that allowed him unrestricted travel and access throughout Russia in the years proceeding WWI.
