There really IS a real war going on that most people don’t even know about. And we are soldiers in that war. This is the type of war that the people MUST know about.

Hence the cliche:”The fog of war.” Real-time, on-the-ground participants have no idea of the scope or the even the tactics. Each soldier has one lower echelon leader in one discrete mission as a small part of the whole.
Everything is moving so fast and so much cryptic information is being dropped, it’s easy to become overwhelmed, declare it nonsense and withdraw. No blame to those who do so. No one has ever fought such a virtual war, before. Maybe the Generals and the masters who play simultaneous blind chess can hold everything in their minds, updating as intel arrives. The rest of us, not so much.
OTOH, we could collectively be Hitler in the bunker, moving non-existent troops in fantasy battles. At this point in time, there is no way to know.
