Trump forces Democratic hand on immigration

Ah, the Art of The Donald. Kick back and enjoy the ride.

"Trump plan to offer citizenship to 1.8 million undocumented immigrants," the BBC reported.

How did the illegal aliens react?

[clip]

Jim Acosta of CNN tweeted, "Immigration advocates hammering WH proposal calling it 'dead on arrival' and a 'legislative burning cross'."

By casting this in terms of race, the message is clear: they don't like white people. Between Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright, don't we already have enough anti-white racists?

Trump won the battle on immigration before he entered the fray. His DACA proposal may pass and become law, and end the worst immigration abuses while reducing the number of immigrants we take in each year.

If Congress rejects his proposal, he still wins because President Obama's DACA order is illegal and unconstitutional -- and can be abandoned as promised in March.

There will not be a deal on DACA. Trump’s current proposal will not be endorsed by enough Democrats in the House. They will object to the wall, the elimination of chain migration and the immigration lottery. The Freedom caucus of Republicans will balk at the citizenship provisions. Trump will claim the high ground but nothing will get accomplished. Look for a flurry of “executive orders” limiting the lotery and chain migration.

Agree. I don’t expect an agreement. But if the Democrats take it at the last minute, it will be extraordinary.

I agree. I did, however, hope to see thR voter ID must become law as part of the deal. That would be the final nail in the coffin.

The dems care more about the borders staying open, chain migration staying in place, and the lottery migration bringing in another strand of dem voters. There’s a lot more dem votes this way than with 1.8 million DACA illegals.

Personally I think Trump is going to stall around til DACA sunsets on March 5th then quietly start deporting at least the ones who have committed crimes or failed to register for DACA protection. Then the Dems will have to come begging to start the talks back up.

Trump beat them at their own game with the 1.8 mil limit.

Due to the wording, the 800K they were claiming was actually over 3 mil. thus by Trump offering them more than they were claiming, he is limiting what they really were doing.

Take that Dem’s. He caught you in a lie and the only way you can get out of this is to admit that you were lying.

You know who has been real quiet lately?
Marco Rubio, Mr. Gang of Eight.
Guess the Amnesty Senators have a revolving assignment to the Amnesty Gangs.
This time it’s Gardner’s turn.

If Dem’s make the mistake of holding up a budget deal with immigration, they will be in hot water and all taxpayers will be screaming when Trump tells the American people that he can not by law issue their tax refunds until the Dem’s are reasonable.

OUCH!!!

“Extraordinary”...until the next Dem administration, House & Senate, which would reinstate chain, lottery and anchor; zero-out wall maintenance funds (so it’ll fall to pieces; and cut ICE funding so we have zero enforcement.

How in the world can the two parties ever get to a shared vision of America where we have controlled, limited immigration of worthy people from advanced nations? In other words, get back to where we were for many decades?

If we don’t get there, we’ll have this stupid to and fro immigration policy forever.

IMHO after the dust settles the Democratic party as it has been known will no longer exist.

They have no bench and no message, the trajectory of this country has been forever been changed and the old system built up by them for decades is crumbling into nothing. Actions speak louder than words and The Don has beaten them at every turn and will continue to do so through this term and the next.

Not sure why you are so dour on all that is going on but to me this is world changing, not a passing fad

Suggest you load up on popcorn now unless deep inside the backsliding you describe is what you really want and it gives you comfort, to each his own.

The Don is over the target and they have no defense

MAGA!!

I like that upbeat enthusiasm! Keep it up.

If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?

I’ve watched the trajectory of politics and history since about 1900 or so (reading history, not all real-life observation). It’s not a pretty picture. Keeping the commies and leftists repulsed is a difficult, never-ending task.

I absolutely LOVE what The Don is doing and never, ever thought I’d see it in my lifetime. I remember the afterglow from Reagan lasted a good 10 years and shimmered another 10. Then the horrible leftward shift accelerated again. Are the changes we are witnessing going to last? Will people respond to new-found freedoms? Or do they want the chains?

A delicious event you present.

The Democrat illegals need to either deal or get dumped, Trump style. The illegals rule the Democrats. Somebody needs to wake up over there.

I believe the foot dragging delay by Democrats is about their mid-term election agenda. They simply can’t deal too early. WTH do they have left if not this illegal citizenship mule they ride?

They’re more afraid of losing the lottery and chain migration than the dreamers.

Hell, Trump’s gonna end up making a lot of them Republicans anyway!

Trump puts it out there - then he can ask the American people, “Why are Chuck and Nancy rejecting citizenship for 1.8 million people? Sad!”

Then commence the deportations!
