My daughter and I were listening to a bunch of varying music on this pretty afternoon while out and about. Some Beatles thrown in, too, as we are both fans.

I was reminded of this video I came across a few months ago. I have just about zero musical ability, but I enjoy music hugely, and I also enjoy watching about music talk. I find this video fun and interesting.

Back in the early days Paul was going to be the lead guitarist but he froze on stage.

I guess it helps to be British to appreciate that song.
Musically, it does nothing for me.
I loved Paul’s RAM album (mostly). Hear the ukelele on the title song.
and his first solo with Maybe I’m Amazed on it.
listen to that piano; stormy, tragic and precious.

LISTEN to the first 30 seconds in “My Love”.
About four whole notes. Simple, but filling, like a Dark Ale.

As a child in the ‘50’s and a teen (and then active duty) in the ‘60’s, I developed a love of music ranging from classical to jazz to rock and roll to rock to blues. As far as guitar music goes, the Beatles were at the bottom of the scale compared to others. Study Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, T. Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, Keith Richard, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Jim Hall, Joe Pass, Kenny Burrell, Atilla Zoeler, Jimmy Rainey, Roy Buchanan, Jerry Garcia, John Cippolina, Jeff Beck, Michael Bloomfield, Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin, Jimmy Page, Alan Wilson, and a whole lot more. All these could play rings around Hendrix and tie the Beatles in Gordian knots. I will admit that Lennon did play some interesting stuff and I’d give my left one for that Gibson Les Paul Special with the Charlie Christian pickup.

If it wasn’t so close to my bedtime, I would flog myself for omitting Peter Green who, along with Mike Bloomfield, are about my absolute favorites.

McCartney is a better guitarist than Harrison or Lennon. That's him soloing on Taxman, also compare the solos on "The End", Paul's smokes George's.

Paul was definitely the best musician in the group. I don't think that there is any musical instrument he hasn't mastered.

I remember years ago reading an interview with George Harrison, and as they listed to various Beatles songs, the interviewer would say "Love your guitar on that song George!" George would reply: "That was Paul."

Yep, on the song “Maybe I’m Amazed” every sound on that song, came from Paul, guitar, piano, drums, bass....all him.

Reminds me of the hilarious interview where John and Paul were asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world, and John replied that he wasn't the best drummer in the Beatles.

I graduated high school in 65 and I loved music from the very first time I heard the Beach Boys in the early sixties I was stationed in Southern California from 65 to 69 and many weekends I went to the Shriner Auditorium where there would be two three four times for bands playing Non-Stop . I heard all the bands you listed and certainly Jerry Garcia and others were great guitar players , but the best guitar player I ever saw live was Duane Allman he was unbelievable.

“I’m a Loser” “Because” there’s “Something” else to do.

John was indicating, without saying it, that Paul was the best drummer in the group.

Well, you made a nice recovery and got Peter Green just in under the bell. Every note he played was loaded with feeling. Did you ever get into Adrien Belew?
