My daughter and I were listening to a bunch of varying music on this pretty afternoon while out and about. Some Beatles thrown in, too, as we are both fans.
I was reminded of this video I came across a few months ago. I have just about zero musical ability, but I enjoy music hugely, and I also enjoy watching about music talk. I find this video fun and interesting.

“Chuck Berry invented them all.” I think Bo Diddly deserves that praise. Far ahead of his time. Plagiarized by every group since. His beat is still (IMHO) the epitome of rhythm and blues.

Can you play “Blackbird” or “Please, Please Me”? Definitely more than three chords. And I am sure there are more - these are just the ones I have practiced.

Wow...that is quite surprising. Not even close to my favorite Wings song.

"They asked Eric Clapton why he hadnt invented any new guitar riffs.......his reply, Chuck Berry invented them all."
Another quote attributed to Clapton, responding to the question "How does it feel to be the world's greatest guitarist?"
"I don't know...ask Prince."

Andres Segovia was my very first concert.
My dad took me.
He was grizzled and ancient, and sat on a loveseat the entire time.

Terry Kath was a great player but I always found that the horns made his guitar solos too far and between. But then I can be a sucker for six string electrified excess.
To: VietVet876
Kath was also one of the best rhythm guitarists as well.

I’ll have to listen to some Chicago soon. They don’t play it much at all where I am. I’m always forgetting other players from the old days but I’m gonna add Leslie West, Larry Coryell, and Pat Martino to my list. Sorry for forgetting you, guys.

I’m a big Pat Metheny fan, I was noting on another thread that it’s been 40 years since the first Pat Metheny Group album came out. Totally blew me away the first time I heard it, and been a fan ever since.

This is awesome. I'm in a bunch of classic rock bands and this channel has helped me greatly with my Beatles catalog.
Three great guitarists in one band...and arguably the best played bass!

LOL. Playing "Zero Tolerance For Silence" should be against The Geneva Convention.

Did you ever read Lyle’s response to the question of what the spoken numbers in AFWSFWF were?
To: dfwgator
LM: No (laughs). I’m not Al Gore...I didn’t invent the internet.

Belew had started out on his own. Frank Zappa found him and immediately took him into his band. Bowie saw him with Zappa and signed him on when his contract with Zappa ended. Belew tells the story best, but Bowie had already taken him under his wing and they happened to run into Frank at a restaurant. Bowie told him straight-out that he wanted Belew in his band. To everything Bowie said, Frank would reply, FU Captain Tom. Ya gotta hear Belew tell the story.
I am sure you have heard more Belew than you know. After playing on Station to Station and Low, Belew moved onto playing with the Talking Heads. The founding members of the band approached Belew with an offer to replace David Byrne and make himself the front man. Adrian didnt like that situation and walked. Maybe then came King Crimson. Not sure. He worked on Paul Simons Graceland. And theres more, just cant think of it right now. He has had a long and illustrious career. He is still out there doing shows. He plays in a way that only he can. It is as if he was handed the instrument and without any previous exposure to it he figured out how to make it give out the sounds he wanted. He drums on the body, drums on the strings, presses and/or plucks the strings above the nut, loves to bend the neck (yes, bend the neck) and is the master of the whammy bar. One cool cat. Hes been playing live for 6 decades. Always plays with an infectious smile on his face.

Here is Belew, just he and his guitar, sounding as good as the three Beatles trading leads in The End (from Abbey Road). The song is called 1967, but I dont know why:
