They drove me nuts and I had to boogie before I succumbed.

Don't feel bad. I'm a reformed hippie child.

I was a filthy liberal until about the age of twenty or so.

I stood on the corner of our main streets in my small town with some friends on election day with a "Carter is Smarter" sign in my hand. And I VOTED for the idiot!!!

Me and another hippie friend of mine, argued with this guy on our cross country team for hours, explaining to him how Nixon was the worst form of scumbag. I would love to find him now and apologize and tell him how wrong I was and how right he was.

My conversion began the day I asked my dad, with my dirty liberal mouth, "Dad? How come everything can't be free?"

He answered, "Because then nobody would work."

That shut me up and got me to thinking. And here I am, lo these many years later. To the right of Ghengis Kahn.

Thanks, Dad.

So yea. Most smart people overcome the indoctrination with time. And you are VERY smart.

You nailed both my husband and myself. There’s a lot of us.

He voted for Carter and the disappointment drove him to never again vote D.

My conversion was complete about a year into Reagan’s 1st term. I hadn’t even voted in that election (only time, ever)& when he won I said, “This is the counter-revolution”. Then, our business (Craftspeople) took off and we benefited from all the discretionary income sloshing around the economy and I was sold. Then W played us. I voted against Clinton and zer0, but Trump got my vote because I could see his potential for finally burying the swamp.

So far, he has.
