Perhaps these brilliant scientists can explain why, when glaciers melt, the water becomes much heavier than the ice, which was floating on top of the water and pushing it down.

Glaciers are formed on land, and slowly and continuously slide downward to the water, with big chunks falling off at the water's edge. They's when they enter the water, as icebergs.
