I have an antique headboard that belonged to Hubby’s aunt. It’s sort of a weird color, a cross between gold and blonde. Had kind of been looking for years for a dresser and nightstands to go with it but didn’t want to spend a lot of money since its in the guest bedroom. Was scrolling through FB Marketplace and bam! there it was. The perfect match. I like that you can check the seller’s history, how long they’ve been on, etc. Doesn’t seem like as big a scam as Craigslist. Anyway, the gal that sold it to me buys old furniture and resells it. She has a garage full. I don’t ‘do’ second handing but FB Marketplace was perfect for this.
I would never do Craigslist, way too many crazies. With the FB Market Place you can do more research on the seller. Not to say that one shouldn’t be careful but I’ve seen some incredible bargains. Ive seen nearly new washer and dryers, stoves, grills, etc. for sale really cheap because of people getting married and having two or remodeling or having to move and not needing those items. Ive also seen some crazy stuff listed like used makeup. YUK!
The biggest problem, not that it is a problem for the seller, is that it is often first to show up with the cash and the truck, gets it. That can be a problem if you work or dont have immediate use of a pickup truck or van and someone to help you move it.
