Me too, that and the erector set. One of crowning achievements as a lad was changing the gearing and getting Mr. Machine to walk backwards.

Something gets broken in the house so the kid tells Mom,

“Well, don’t look at me, Mr. Machine did it!”

My favorite toy was Mr. Machine also. My father knew that I was a ‘gearhead’ and bought it for me Christmas.

While my original one was lost in a move, I have an another original one. My father always called me Mr. Machine from the time I was 4.
