I am not, but thank you for the information. Very interesting. This is not the only area where fraud is perpetrated by dishonest lawyers. I’ve been an expert witness a few dozen times but I have rejected offers in several cases too. Lawyers don’t follow the science, they follow the dollar, right or wrong.
Indeed, some lawyers are certainly like that.
I've never testified as an expert witness in a case, and never will. A few years ago, I kept getting emails from Reuters asking me to be an expert consultant on scientific stories. I wouldn't do that, either.
Not all lawyers are money-grubbing shysters. I met a lawyer at a conference recently whom I may have to consult for guidance, regarding human subject research. In the context where lawyers guide you through a legal mess so that you can do the right thing, their help is invaluable.
