What will be the new name for false sexual allegations? What is happening now reminds me of McCarthyism.

Per Wiki, McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence.

The term refers to U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy and has its origins in the period in the United States known as the Second Red Scare, lasting roughly from 1947 to 1956 and characterized by heightened political repression as well as a campaign spreading fear of Communist influence on American institutions and of espionage by Soviet agents.

McCarthyism has taken on a broader meaning, describing the excesses of similar efforts. The term is also now used more generally to describe reckless, unsubstantiated accusations, as well as demagogic attacks on the character or patriotism of political adversaries.

During the McCarthy era, hundreds of Americans were accused of being communists or communist sympathizers and became the subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before government or private-industry panels, committees and agencies

The only ones that are presently guilty from the sex accusations are those who admitted what they did. Anyone who denied accusations are innocent until someone drags their a$$ into court and proves them guilty. Now that the Alabama election is over, the media will start to not cover the daily accusations against those who share the same political aspirations as the media does. Next year, more than half of the GOP candidates running for reelection will be accused of even more disgusting things than Roy Moore. If they don’t fight back immediately and just as hard as Trump did when he was accused, they will be defeated as if they were guilty. The only thing Roy Moore is guilty of so far is not fighting back in the first 5 minutes of when the accusations started flying. If his accusers don’t drag him into court to prove they were not lying, Roy Moore should drag them and their handlers into court to prove they were lying.

In 2000 the election eve disclosure of Bush’s decades old DWI arrest cost him the popular vote (Gore’s majority was only 0.51%) and almost cost him the electoral vote.

In 2004 Dan Rather and AP released (courtesy of Democrat liaisons) forged National Guard memos alleging that Bush was AWOL during the Vietnam War. Prior to that was the leak of the Abu Ghraib photos (by the disgruntled Uncle of one of the perps who tried to blackmail the government for a softer release) which was also supposed to cost Bush the election (it didn’t cost him support but it cost the US support for the Iraq War and emboldened the terrorists from other countries to go to Iraq and fight as so-called (foreign funded) insurgents).

In 2006 there was the DNC and media coordinated attack on a Congresscritter who’d been texting a minor aide. The allegation was that the GOP knew and did nothing, the media and the DNC knew more, earlier, and conspired to save it for the fall election season. Outing two homo helped cost the GOP Congress under the allegations of “a culture of corruption that rises to the top ranks of the party!”. BTW the “ethics charges” against Tom DeLay were a joke and eventually he won his case.

In 2012 Harry Reid alleged that Mitt Romney paid no taxes (and has subsequently said that his lie worked).

In 2016 the Billy Bush tape was leaked to try to tank Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy.

How queer that the LA Times acknowledged that they had a videotape of Barack Obama toasting an Islmonazi with ties to terrorism but declined to release it because it was at a “private event”.

Never came up in earlier campaigns, didn’t even come up in the primary.

And when it did come up, the media, Gloria Alred, and the “victim” all denied any alteration of the yearbook, subsequently the week BEFORE the general election (but long after some had cast ballots), it was revealed that the “victim” had written part the supposed yearbook entry. They admit to lying a month a go, “fake but accurate” has to stop.
