Penn Jillette is a major public face of atheism right now, and a passionate advocate FOR religious expression in America.
Difference here is that Jillette comprehends that he is part of a faith system too - he believes there is no God. That he really is an agnostic is one thing. I think his position is that he doesn’t care.
What he is absolutely unopposed to is someone who passionately believes they are in possession of information that might benefit other people sharing that information, especially with him.
Jay Mohr is a evangelical Catholic, and they had a podcast wherein they discussed this.
What I like about where atheism is going is that they’ve, for the most part, arrived at the conclusion that atheism is just another faith. There’s still an anti-Christian wing of atheism out there, but the cooler heads are prevailing.
Christmas without Christ seems a bit pointless...
Ones who do not believe there is a higher power.
The others know that there is a higher power and they hate Him.
If it hadn’t been for Christianity these atheists would be facing mecca 5 times a day.
Everything good comes from God. They are trying to co-opt Christmas because they want the good, without the God. They had better learn that without God there isn’t any good, for an eternity in the lake burning with fire.
It’s funny how those who call themselves “free thinkers” all end up freely thinking exactly the same way.
But somehow all the other people outside their group who think differently are considered the closed-minded ones...
