Let me say I am extremely disappointed in the loss tonight. I would have stuck with Strange in the primary, but I would have voted for Moore if I lived in Alabama. This is a double loss since Sessions has been such a lousy AG and set the table for this Mueller witch hunt but would have been a reliable Senate vote.
I wish people would understand that the difference between glory and destruction with high risk candidates is pretty slim even in Alabama. The media is the enemy - the communication wing of the DNC and will sabotage R candidates or run interference for D's as the situation requires. How many people know Senator Menendez is a pedophile? How bad does a Senator Strange sound tonight?
Let's not kid ourselves: Moore lost this seat. If any Democrat gave as tepid a response to the pedo charges leveled at him, we'd be all over him. He was stupid, selfish and reckless to have run with this is his past, and the media deliberately waited to expose him until he was locked onto the ballot. They tried to do the same to Trump with the Access Hollywood tape, waiting until well after Trump clinched the nomination but it backfired ultimately because of Trump's dynamism and the weakness of the charges once you get past the crassness of the remark. Still, Trump only won by about 80k votes across some key states.
This country is teetering on the abyss if it's not already fallen into it and we just haven't realized it yet. We need bulletproof candidates because the media is gunning for our guys while they bury stories for any Democrats whose seats might get filled by Republicans, either at the ballot box or appointed by Republican governor. This is the battlefield we have to operate in, and there's nothing we can do about that but not make unforced errors with lousy candidate quality control.
Please take your own advice.
We get it. You're a Bannon Hater.
no, you don’t get it. what I hate is losing. and bannon is looking like a loser.
if you’re going to stick with the guy that f**ked up Alabama, AGAINST the admonition of DJT in the primaries, then it is YOU that stands apart from trump the conservatives, not I.
I see you avoided the question.
I totally answered the question, you just didn’t like the answer.
Well, evidently Im not alone in my assessment, wouldnt you say? I would have still voted for him because a Democrat is an intolerable alternative, but its not hard to understand why 650k Trump voters stayed home.
How come you support McConnell, Rove and the like?
It’s called Alobama
When the leftist traitor Shelby stated that he wasn’t voting for Moore, that made me more determined to vote for Moore.
Shelby isn’t “our own Senator Shelby”. He’s a turncoat swamp creature and I can’t wait to dance on his grave. He’s as bad as McCain and McConnell.
Once a democrat, always a democrat.
Your beloved Strange is an Establishment crook and would have been slaughtered tonight.
Case closed.
Republicans want to lose.
>>We must demand a recount, which will show large amounts of voter fraud, and which will show that Roy Moore won by a landslide!
The Alabama SC, conveniently ordered all the precincts to destroy the ballot records, for just such a scenario. A recount can’t truely be done.
Roy Moore was a flawed candidate.
SO WAS DONALD TRUMP.
So, what's your point? Are we to ignore the reality that any candidate we would want to elect has to run not only against the RAT, but the media, and the GOPee?
Moore had a lot of obstacles; the GOPee shouldn't have been one of them.
Candidates come and go. The GOPee remains. No candidate can reasonably expect to run against all of that and win.
Conservatives want a candidate who will reform the Swamp. The Swamp doesn't want to be reformed.
THAT was the 'problem' with Roy Moore. To think it would be different with a 'better' candidate is wishful thinking...something akin to lefties thinking socialism would work with better people running it.
The 'quality' of the candidate is, at this point, irrelevant. Roy Moore was taken down by 'friendly' fire.
Trump is a gifted politician. Moore stunk on ice. Besides that, Trump didn’t run as an Evangelical leader but a bombastic Mr. Fix-It businessman. Also, the charges against Moore were way worse and made much more credible by Moore’s own lackadaisical defense of himself.
Let’s say McConnell stayed out and Brooks finished 2nd and went into a runoff with Moore. What makes you think Moore wouldn’t have won that runoff too? He finished third in a three-way race.
Stuff it.
That and the fact that the Left threw everything it had into accomplishing this coup while we did more pontificating than actual investing in the seat.....
The bottom line is that Moore did not manage to get Republicans to come out and vote for him, outside of his Evangelical base. I think we will find that a lot of Republican women stayed home.
Trump had the right instinct when he backed Luther in the primary.
At this stage, a candidate who is opposed by both the Dems AND the GOPe is unlikely to win. Trump was an exemption. We shouldn’t rely on miracles all the time.
You can only lose a Senate seat once. Theres no shame in asking whether the votes were counted accurately. In fact to pass up the opportunity to verify the vote invites fraud and invalidates the whole process.
I agree. In a tight race, it’s good to get a recount.
As long as they keep Moore off the ballot.
