...two types of toilet paper rolls: a high-quality one for tourists, and an ecological one to sell to Cuban citizens.
And here we have a picture of the new experimental ecological products ...

"I have a friend who used to go to Cuba two or three times a year until he found a girl to bring back and marry. He would take a wide assortment of consumer goods to trade. Clothes, toilet seats, toilet paper, and bicycles were most prized.
So what was the going rate in trade for a fiancee?

Capitalists measure success by the price of gold.
Socialists measure success by the price of toilet paper.
I remember the stories coming out about the availability of groceries in stores in the Soviet Union, especially the availability of toilet paper. Soon after that, Reagan said, "Tear down this wall".

When you run a toilet as big as Cuba, TP is critical infrastructure.

I once worked with a guy who got his bride out of a catalog. I didn’t know him well but he must have been a real freak. The girl left him and moved back to Russia.

We were in Havana in July. They had already run out of toilet seats. We were told to bring our own toilet paper. I guess communism only works until you run out of someone else’s toilet paper.

Well, they still have Juventud Rebelde newspaper...Hilariously translated "rebellious youth."
Communism, desperately trying to stay relevant in one of the handful of countries where it hasn't been put out of its misery yet.

So, are they out of TP because of lack of production or growth in the ‘causative product’, as produced by the communist Castro regime?

I remember as a kid visiting my Aunt Anna and Uncle Nick before they had indoor plumbing. They lived out on a farm. Their ground water sat on a salt dome so taking a drink from the faucet was like opening your mouth when you were at the ocean. In their outhouse they used Sears catalogs. Had a pile of them for “just in case.”

In the 80’s we use to go to Montego Bay for the Reggae Sunsplash festival. We traded jeans and toothpaste for hotel rooms, food and booze.

Until such time as People's Factory Toilet Paper Machines produce toilet paper, it is authorized to use poster material.

Former National Felon League, Colin K. should go over and help his beloved commies in Cuba.
He could take the unused NFL pro football tickets over to use as toilet paper! That should last the Cubans a year or so.

A bona fide offer of marriage, legal entry to Canada, and "permanent resident" status when you get there. And, it is not that easy to get the permanent resident status for a Cuban bride.
