I just checked, and we haven't added a leap second this year, and one is not currently scheduled as far as I can determine. They normally announce them several months in advance. As such, I really doubt there has been any substantial slowing of the earth's rotation. The last leap second was added in 2016.

The following table shows the leap seconds added each year since 1972. They are added in June or December. If one was to be added this year, we'd have heard about it by now.

Seems the Bible speaks of at the beginning of the Last Days..earthquakes be in “diverse places” among a whole lot of really bad things also happening...along with the EQ’s.

While looking for information about pending leap seconds, I found something interesting, and learned something new, which is always a good thing. The following is for Unix/Linux nerds only (Perhaps OSX, but I don't know about that)

If you're using NTPD, you can add a leap seconds file to your configuration.

Download the leap-seconds.list file from http://www.ietf.org/timezones/data/leap-seconds.list. Copy the leap seconds file onto your system running ntpd and add a line to your ntp.conf:

leapfile "/path/to your/leap-file"

You need to restart ntpd to apply your configuration changes.

To keep the file up to date, I'd recommend a cron job that executes on Jun 1, and Dec 1 that will get the file from the above and update the appropriate location.

Yeah, I'm a nerd.
