“Justice League is supposed to be DCs Avengers movie”
Are we supposed to know what that means?
Die, Hollywood, Die.
I wish the same would happen with the upcoming Star Wars film, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
By all accounts, “Justice League” is a terrible movie. Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” movies aside, DC just can’t figure out how to adapt its content to the big screen. Marvel’s properties are still ruling Hollywood these days.
Summing up more succinctly: People are finally waking up to the fact that Hollywood is out of ideas.
What???
So Superman doesn’t come back to life in this movie????
Someone please confirm he is not in this.
So when can we expect Gilligan’s Island as a musical?
Other than Batman, most of the members of the Justice League are optimistic; modern writers aren’t capable of portraying heroes unless they’re “flawed”.
Backlash is actually because it is not a very good movie. Had to have a lot of reshooting, script doctor. Afflect has outlived his Batman persona.
I just watched it and frankly it wasn’t as good as Batman vs Superman which got bad reviews.
I think the whole good guys vs bad guys scenario has simply been played out. There are only so many ways to set up the good guys, make them fail, then rebuild them to make them win in the end through determination and team work or other good human concepts.
Maybe I’m just getting old and have seen it too many times now. A child with fresh eyes would hopefully see the same thing in a better light.
The acting was fine, the story line was fine, Superman is revived so all is well with world in that way, so it’s just a matter of taking out the current villain which they always do eventually.
Occasionally, DISH has a “Free HBO/Showtime” weekend...a preview.
Initially I said, “Good, I can DVR some good movies this weekend.” But, as soon as the menu dumps, and I scan it, there’s usually not one movie I deem worth recording. Not one.
Hollywood has gone the way of the fall of the Roman Empire. Way too many untalented stars, directors, and producers (and writers).
So, I go back to TCM to watch the classics...movies that we great BEFORE CGI, unlimited cussing, blood and guts, sexual innuendoes (homo, and otherwise), social messages, and political correctness.
Lots of good, old, B&W movies on Youtube also, free.
I haven’t been to a movie theatre since the release of “Top Gun”, and then only because my son wanted me to see it, knowing my enthusiasm for airplanes, etc.
Haven’t missed it a bit.
I watched it yesterday with my son. I thought it was a really great movie for what it is. A superhero flick. Had a good time watching it.
Generally speaking, the movie was too dark. Batman is a dark character, but Superman is not. And when I say dark, I mean the cinematography. It was too dark. The Avengers movies were bright, the photography was crisp and detailed. You could see the scratches in Iron Mans armor. Not so with the Justice League. The story moved from one thing to another to another, but this was just a way of conveying the fact that these people were completely separate and unrelated to each other. They were brought together because they had to be, and frankly weren't very happy about it. But hey, the world's got to be saved, so here we go.
I will continue to watch any and all Marvel or DC superhero films that are produced, but as you may have gathered, I'm a bit of a fan. I just can't understand why DC isn't producing better movies. They have EVERYTHING they need, but they just can't seem to get their shit together. Sad.
I suspect the real reason it’s gonna tank is that it’s a shitty movie. A whole boatload of people got rooked into going because Warner Brothers, who made the movie AND owns rottentomatoes.com, suppressed the normal pre-movie-release reviews on their site (because they weren’t very good), and I’m convinced also paid legions of trolls to post thousands of fake user reviews all over the internet, e.g., there were a thousand glowing, one-liner user reviews on rottentomatoes BEFORE the movie even opened! And they pretty much all sounded alike: “Amazing movie. The critics are full of it ...”
Because of this, it’s no longer possible to judge whether to go see a movie based on user reviews. As a consequence, it’s best simply not to go at all and enjoy your giant HD TVs in the comfort of your own home, your own delicious food, beverages and snacks, and super high-quality TV series from around the world via ROKU (or similar) streaming from Netflix, Amazon, and a few from HBO (G.o.T., Westworld, and Silicon Valley).
I’m a fan of some of the Avengers stuff, but I don’t really care enough about most movies these days to bother going to the theater to see them.
Kinda burned out on superhero movies.
But, in my opinion, this year’s Lego Batman is one of the few worth seeing.
Marvel is kicking DC’s butt.
