Mother ... reveals that her husband accompanies their daughter, four, into the LADIES' loos

A mother has sparked a fierce debate after revealing her husband takes their daughter into the ladies' toilets when in public places.

Posting on Mumsnet, she explained how she had told him 'women don't like that', arguing that he should take their four-year-old into the men's toilets.

Some members of the parenting forum agreed, saying 'adult men should never be in women's toilets', while others had more sympathy and said they could understand why he wouldn't want to take her to the men's loos.

Several people suggested he should take her to the disabled toilet instead, sparking anger about whether this is appropriate or not.

I don't want a man in a ladies room whether he's a father or whether he thinks he's a woman. I'm for single person bathrooms, which Lowes is building in newer stores. And they need to be relabeled, if they're now id'd for disabled, as "family" bathrooms that anyone can use. They need to become the norm or, at least, a choice in all stores.

I'm remembering a push decades ago in colleges for co-ed bathrooms. Made no sense to me then, but I'm wondering if that's what this push for allowing men into women's bathrooms came from. I think it was a liberal notion even back then.

Many stores have Family Rooms precisely for this situation

I have had a dad or two ask me to accompany their daughter when I was out shopping with my daughter.

On the whole I left my kid let at home unless we were shopping for something where she needed to be there

Since many women have been taught all men are rapists by radical feminism, no wonder these women are being triggered...by a normal loving father who would prefer to take his daughter into a ladies room...

Unless a person is just on another level of stupidity I would stay out of the women restroom.

Five years ago and more when we all were acknowledging that men are men and women are women, it was hard for dads with daughters. Still is I guess.

What is a good dad to do? Wait outside and hope there isn’t a predator in there and that she doesn’t need help?

As a mom I’d take my sons to the ladies until they were like four. They didn’t like it. But I feared predators in the men’s room.

It’s hard when you have little kids. The recent mencangointhrwimenstoilet makes it much harder. You send your small girl in there and wonder what she’ll encounter.

Asking a woman to accompany the girl seems the best solution to everyone’s concerns. I remember that from decades back when a man wouldn’t have thought of going in.

Might be a good idea. Replace multi stall restrooms with single use unisex units, ADA compliant. But then the voyeur and exhibitionist communities will protest about their rights being violated.

Most places call them family bathroom mostly for men with kids need help

I don’t like a hipster day bringing his four year old in the men’s room

I had two girls close together so they could watch each other or I would ask a decent looking mom to keep eye on the, while I waited outside

Toddler Boys in the girls room is different cause women usually have stalls so you don’t see much

In means room especially sports or airports it’s dirk digglers in a row or wannabes anyhow

Not a place for s young inquisitive lass

Thank sky take after raising five through that stage and two little girls alone

I’ve seen women change their baby/toddler in the men’s room more than once. And take their boys to the toilet as well.

Why is that different?

I mean other than “we’re entitled and they’re not”.

It’s wrong for a man to take his daughters into a bathroom. It’s ok for a man to go into a bathroom with girls he doesn’t know. Learn the rules.

Exactly you can tell who to ask to help as a dad with little girls

A decent woman

And they were always very kind and helpful

Anywhere

All creeds

If I had a four year old today, I would avoid public toilets outside of church, a ton of perverse people out there.

The worst thing I have seen is immigrants from the 3rd world piling up their used toilet paper because they don’t know they can flush it in the toilet.

Just nasty.

Ladies room for boys is exponentially more private than men’s room for title girls

I tried it once and never again

It’s just too weird

In a small place you just knock and if empty just use the ladies

No, women shouldn’t be in the men’s rooms either. You have an absolute right to privacy as much as women do. I only frame my discussion from my own point of view as a woman. Even when I was for women’s lib in the days when I wasn’t allowed to give a Zeiss Planetarium lecture because an audience wouldn’t accept a woman’s voice as authoritative in the dark, I wasn’t for women’s rights. I was always for equal rights in everything - divorce, child custody, etc. As for changing babies, women’s rooms often have changing tables. I wonder if the men’s rooms are going to get them now.

Yeah, whatever happened to those, anyway? I seem to remember lots of them around when I was a kid. :)

Recently when I was shopping in Walmart there was a guy with his roughly 5 year old daughter in the mens room. She was crying about something, he was upset and it just felt like a really odd situation. I don’t know how you guys with daughters do it. Boys are tough enough. LOL.
