But no problems with Kennedy or Menendez.
“But no problems with Kennedy or Menendez”
You are absolutely right about the double standard. But to give the Devil his tiny bit of due, most institutions treat insiders differently than outsiders. I worked for years in a low level office function, and it was apparent that people working there could get away with stuff that would not be tolerated in someone trying to get a job there, or a new hire. I’m not saying that’s right, just that it happens pretty endemically. Kennedy (when he was alive) and Menendez and McCain were members of the club and were treated differently than outsiders trying to break in, especially if they appeared uncouth and, almost literally, outlandish. People like Moore and Trump run roughshod over established etiquette and long-hallowed procedures. That’s why we vote for them. But we shouldn’t be surprised at the horror they inspire in those who are happy with business as usual. And no one should expect fair treatment from people whose whole way of life is under threat.
