1974 Mustang II
Pros:
* Good gas mileage
* It would go anywhere I drove it — remarkably durable. Most cars would have given up after so much abuse, but it kept on running.
* Made the x-girlfriend jealous
Cons:
* Engine died after a year. Really.
* NO acceleration.
1961 International Scout. Red body with white detachable steel hardtop (20+ heavy duty bolts). My father bought this one new for the farm when I was 14 and it was my main vehicle when I got my license two years later. I’d been driving the ‘58 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup in the fields since it was new and the old man’s ‘55 Chrysler 300. He figured I wouldn’t live long if he let me drive the 300 so he sold it right before I turned 16. That’s the one I wish I still had. White with cream leather, real wire wheels, 331 c.u. hemi with two four barrels. At least with the Scout I was never snowed in which was a real bonus when you’re in high school. Plus it had an eight foot Meyers blade with hydraulic lift in the cab so I could make money plowing driveways after I got the farm plowed out.
