I question why any church or religious organization should get special treatment from the IRS or tax code.

For one thing, legitimate churches get their income through donations, which then typically go to charities. Would you want money that you donate to charity to go to the government instead?

Not to mention that churches at least in theory do not make a profit. They may have extra money for a building fund, but for the most part whatever comes in, goes out.

You mean like the money I "donate" to fund SNAP, WIC, Section 8 etc?...

It is a travesty that Hod’s people ask the government for permission to exists. I personally do not claim my donations to Hod’s work as a tax write off.
