If there weren’t so many stupid ‘health’ regulations about where you may bring your dog (my American Bulldog is trained as well as all but a few specialty service animals) jerks wouldn’t have the incentive to call so many ill trained animals ‘service’.
I’ve been to restaurants in other countries that permit (well behaved) dogs that put to shame many of the ones here that don’t allow them. As with smoking, it should be up to the owner of the establishment.
Not to say the people with fake service animals aren’t jerks, but I kind of get their frustration.
Anyone who doesn’t like dogs might as well be a moozie for all I care, I ain’t gonna trust them.
My daughter’s roommate had her doctor dad write say that she needed an emotional support animal in the dorm in college. They dog was an untrained puppy, and the girl would be gone 8 hours a day with school and work, and my daughter would end up taking the dog out and playing with it because she felt so bad for the dog. The colleges supposedly cannot deny the kids the emotional support animals.
The following year, my daughter had an autistic roommate who had a service animal. Both the dog and the autistic girl had been thoroughly trained, and there were never any issues. When I visited, the dog just ignored me. Never barked. Did not really notice it except it was large.
I have a daughter with a brain injury who is very attached to our dog. Our dog calms her down when she is stressed. She used to have terrible meltdowns when she had a bad day, and when we got our dog she just would cuddle with the dog on a bad day. She is also not a very sociable kid and has a tendency to stay in her room too much. Walking the dog, got her outside and visiting with neighbors.
She’s away at college, and I’ve thought about getting her doctors to say she needs an emotional support animal for her, but we all agree it would be too much work for her right now, and it wouldn’t be good for a dog.
Your dog smokes? Awesome!
