The NFL entered Week 7 today and it's obvious the backlash against players kneeling for the national anthem continues.
Here are a few tweets from around the league showing fans voting with their pocketbooks by not purchasing game tickets, leading to half-full -- or worse -- stadiums.

Why does it take 3 1/2 hours to play a one hour football game? As a causal fan, it seems like there are commercials every five minutes or so. It’s hard to concentrate and get into the momentum of the game.
I’m sure that’s an issue especially with people with short attention spans. The pace of the game seems to be so slow .
One of my sons and his wife are visiting Florida for their 2nd anniversary. He’s been a Dolphins fan for years and he finally had a chance to go to the game yesterday. Posted a picture of the half empty stadium of Facebook.
I’ll ask him about the game when they get back.
You think they can just “cut teams” just like that? You think they just cancel games in the middle of the deason? The least valuable team is at least $1.5 billion. And they do have enforceable legal agreements.
If the stadiums are empty, why aren’t games being blacked out?
Dont forget the new cba that will need renegotiated in a couple of years. Imagine what a lockout will do coupked with lack of interest...
I dont disagree, the NFL will face that and more if this continues. My point was in the meantime, the NFL can afford to lose game day revenues, it’s a small portion of total revenues for a team.
I dont think they will can Goodell anytime soon but if this is still going on late this season, then who knows. Right now, the owners, commissioner and players are all aligned for better or worse. They’re counting on fans to forgive and forget.
There was a move to oust him when the Deflategate thing happened, because he is rightly considered to be Robert Kraft’s puppet. Goodell was forced to go after the Patriots on that. There was also a move to oust him with the Ray Rice thing.
I meant many years down the road if teams struggle to sell tickets for several years.

I think it must be that the games are actually sold out (key factor in blackout), but fans are just not showing up.
All those empty seats ought to lift the skirts on the sports industry’s dirty little secret: It is a haven for money laundering. Because of the cash nature of many or most ticket sales, sports teams routinely get waivers from the Bank Secrecy Act that requires their banks to report cash deposits over $10,000. Likewise theaters— also mostly empty these days. It may also explain why so many team owners can go year after year losing money on these ventures. Who cares if it is a vehicle to launder other ill-gotten cash into a useable bank account. An enterprising revenuer ought to be able to correlate a teams’s cash deposits with its empty seats, flagging parking revenues and weak apparel sales and come up with probable cause for a money-laundering bust.

He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did. He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young American’s give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.
You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts. You hired an agent and waited for draft day. You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million although you had never played a single down of professional football.
Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year.
You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach.
He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers.
You will sleep at the Ritz. He will dig a hole in the ground and try to sleep.
You will “make it rain” in the club. He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 120 degrees.
On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name. For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week. There are no adoring fans. There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and “go to the rear” to rest. He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV. When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television. While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country.
To the players of the NFL: We are the people who buy your tickets, watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys. We anxiously wait for Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism. Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you. We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth. We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right. But now you have gone too far. You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country. I am done with NFL football and encourage all like minded Americans to boycott the NFL as well.
National boycott of the NFL for Sunday November 12th, Veterans Day Weekend. Boycott all football telecast, all fans, all ticket holders, stay away from attending any games, let them play to empty stadiums.

totally fake news. anyone can take pics of stadiums at game time, half time or at the end of a blowout and claim it was empty ...

absolutely not. but anyone can post “empty stadium” pics that there is no way to verify when they were taken. OTOH, yesterday a Freeper posted turnstile totals of ALL the games on Sunday and the numbers would indicate the stadiums were essentially full. AND i’ve personally already seen too many “empty stadium” pics that i know were fake because i watched those games and could see from live TV shots during the game that the stadiums were full or mostly full.
independent of game coverage video, the only way to know for sure is to set up a live video steaming feed during a game, and no one has done that.

True, but OTOH, it could also be true that the empty stadium pics were really as taken during the games. We just don’t know at this point other than by reading the above reports. So, we can’t dismiss them as “fake news” outright.

there is no proof that these photos are legitimate, therefore they can be dismissed without proof.
OK then, since you said you saw live shots of the game, I have to conclude that most fans don’t care a whit about the players disrespecting the flag and the anthem and with this, the NFL won’t be affected much by anything.
Which is actually an encouragement for these players to continue doing what they’re doing.
I will also have to conclude that the above tweets regarding the actual games are fake...
