Unlike what weve seen in recent weeks, college football Week 8 wasnt loaded with upsets, shocking losses or many huge surprises. There were some serious statements made, however, by teams looking to gain a foothold in the soon to come College Football Playoff rankings at the beginning of November.
The two biggest games of the weekend were rather lopsided affairs. Both USC and Michigan were chewed up and spit out by their respective opponents. Meanwhile, the likes of Alabama and TCU made easy work of the poor teams they were matched up against

Don’t get cocky Nittany Lions fans:
Penn State fans chant We want Bama
I am a long time Bama fan (since the 1950s) and a long time unfriend of Penn State (Since long before their troubles).
I was half way watching the Penn State game and reading “The Red Cliffs of Zerhoun” on my Kindle. Still I saw enough while taking breaks that I think Penn State is real.
They just might be national champs this year, might just beat Alabama.
Penn State should have been given the Death Penalty for allowing a child rapist to use their program and facilities to abuse children.
No way they will win the NC this year. God will stop them.
Go Canes!
6-0
Nobody is stopping Alabama this year
In my many years of watching college football there are only a couple of times when I saw refs brazenly cheat. One was Southern Cal vs. LSU back around 1970 or so.
The other time was Alabama vs. Penn State. A ref with ties to Penn State made a call which could not have been a mistake. He simply gave Penn State a national championship.
Any yes, they should have been given the death penalty.
Despite all that, they really looked impressive last night.
Georgia might have something to say about that.
I think if both Alabama and Georgia are unbeaten going into the SECCG, they should both make the playoffs, baring a blowout.
It might work out the same for Penn State and Wisky should they be unbeaten for the Big Ten title game.
So, conceivably, only two conferences may be represented in the playoffs.
No way a Pac-12 team gets in. TCU is the only hope for the Big 12, and Miami is the only hope for the ACC.
Nothing is a sure thing, but Roll Tide should win the championship this season. I also look forward to James Franklin and Penn State butt stomping Urban Meyer, Ohio State, and their arrogant fan base back to mediocrity. I say that as a Buckeye alum.
It’s all about The U!

Who had Michigan played and beaten this season? What justified their early season rankings? So if this is Penn State’s coming out game they are in for a world of hurt next week in Columbus, Ohio.
The Buckeyes will put them down a notch next weekend.
Nobody is stopping Alabama this year
Yeah, heard that all before. Pride before the fall...
The ACC champ will be in the playoffs because a member of their conference won the national championship last year. Only 1 team from each conference will get in unless winners of the Big Ten and Big 12 both have 2 losses (PAC-12 is already eliminated), and Notre Dame runs the table unscathed.
He is not the guy. For that matter, Jeff Long (AD) is not the guy either. We had a good coach, Petrino, he was fired. The best coach we ever had was Ken Hatfield.
Nothing arrogant about Franklin and Penn State, right? The rat poison is being heavily spread in Happy Valley these days. Unfortunately for them the game is in Columbus and they aren’t going to be blocking any kicks in this game. Buckeyes roll, Nittany Lions go home.
The problem is always “who are you going to replace him with”?
Because they did sooooo well against the unstoppable Oklahoma at home...... who then lost to Iowan State.
They play for a reason Skippy.
Michigan lost 18 of 22 starters from last season. They have a ton of young talent, but their year was always supposed to be next season. The prognosticators got a little ahead of themselves. Plus, they are operating with a poor backup QB after their starter Speight went down 3 games ago.
Just how long must the present innocent Penn State student body suffer from the sins of the past?
