It appears to me that some seem surprised about the revelations regarding the activities of those involved in the movie industry.

The abuse and mistreatment of women and youths (male & female) in movie industry has been there since day one. It appears that society just did not want to talk about it or deal with it, for the most part.

Note: porn movies (silent) before the ‘talkies’ were quite popular in the ‘20’s. When I was a kid in the early ‘60’s I can remember ‘drive-ins’ showing ‘X’ rated films.

The video entertainment industry has always been a cesspool of abusive and sexist behavior, because sex sells and those in the sex trade know that it is relatively easy money. And no one gender was worse than the other when it came to exploitation. Prostitution is possibly the oldest profession.

My mother has a friend, an older movie star, who started out at the end of the ‘silent’ era, and she told my mother some of the women working in the industry, treated the young males and females as meat for the bosses.

If the behavior of the moguls and actors of the movie industry is acceptable to you than don’t act indignant and lie about it by acting as though in shock that such occurs.

If it is not acceptable don’t support it. Read books, make on use of the canvas of your mind for imagery, learn something.

On that note, movies about history rarely do it well; ie, the William Wallace in ‘Braveheart’ was not the real William Wallace.

I have not personally owned a TV for about 30 years, I have not been to a movie theater in almost as long. I do not rent or pay for video’s. Occasionally there are films (mostly science fiction where I am intrigued by the special effects or some comedies) that I may watch if the opportunity presents itself, but I never pay for the chance. I do not financially support the video entertainment industry.

(I will get children’s movies for my kids & grandkids but if they cross the line in any way they are out, my kids will attest to the fact the I had no qualms about destroying what I viewed as trash- music & movies, and I am not religious)

For the matter I am not a professional sports voyeur either. I do not attend professional games of any kind nor do I watch them.

Well that is my rant of the subject

I didn’t see your post as a rant at all.

I believe these things should be left to the individual, to their own conscience and tastes.

I don’t watch television programming (with the exception of one football game a week in season for the past 45 years, so that history makes me somewhat evil around here these days) or news or read newspapers/magazines and have not for going on twenty years now, but...I go out of my way not to criticize those who do. If someone turns on the television, I politely leave the room to do something else.

I don’t understand how they can tolerate it, being subjected to it because it seems mind-numbing and toxic, but that is their business, IMO. It should be a personal decision as I see it. I watch a lot of movies, though it is fewer new things, as I plumb the depths of content further and further back to even the Thirties.

I have made a lot of changes in my life based on political motives. Things I don’t read, listen to, or watch, foods I eat, products I purchase. My most recent one was stopping all Coca Cola products after that disgusting homosexual commercial I saw. Stopped cold turkey. And I can say, without reservation, that I consumed more Coke products than any person I have ever known. I could easily drink 6-10 12 oz cans of Coke a day, sometimes more. People will say I should have stopped for other than political reasons, but I don’t force my choices down the throats of others, so I resent it when they force their choices on me instead of respecting them.

But that is how it is these days.
